Dialog Adds Chemical Structures to Alerts Service
London, UK (29 November
2005)
Dialog, a Thomson business, today
announced at the Online Information 2005 conference
meeting here this week that it is extending chemical
structure searching functionality to its Alerts
system. Dialog introduced chemical structure searching
on its online service in May 2005.
Dialog Alerts generate automatic e-mail notifications
when new content is added that matches a user's
search profile to provide current awareness of topics
specified by the end user.
Alerts by chemical structure allow users to scan
newly added research (such as new drugs in development)
to automatically pinpoint targeted chemical structures.
“The new Alerts feature is a significant benefit
to researchers, competitive intelligence specialists,
legal professionals, regulators and many others with
a need to track new developments in pharmaceuticals,
chemicals and patents, and a range of business, academic
and regulatory pursuits,” said Tom Tankelewicz,
Dialog senior director, product development.
Alerts by Chemical Structure are available in three
premier databases of chemical and pharmaceutical
research available through Dialog: Derwent Chemistry
Resource (File 355), Pharmaprojects (Files 128, 928)
and Prous Science Drug Data Report (File 452).
Searchers can use any of a number of popular chemical
structure drawing software packages that support
the industry-standard format for storing chemical
structure information (MOL file) to set up Alerts,
which are created in DialogLink 5 (Dialog's
interface for information professionals with in-depth
research needs).
Alerts output may be delivered to any e-mail address
and do not require the recipient to have DialogLink
5 installed. The Alert output can be delivered in
the user's preferred format with images included
in the e-mailed results where relevant.
Research related to millions of chemical compounds,
including those found in drug pipelines, is available
through Dialog. For more information about Chemical
Structure Searching on Dialog, visit www.dialog.com/products/dialoglink/css.shtml.
