
Dialog's Libby Trudell Elected to SLA Board of Directors

Dialog

a Thomson business, announced today that Libby Trudell,
Dialog Senior Vice President, Information Professional
Market Development, has been elected to the Special
Libraries Association (SLA) Board of Directors. She
and other newly elected members of the SLA Board
of Directors will be installed during the SLA's
97 th Annual Conference, June 11-14, 2006, in Baltimore.

for being elected by her peers to serve in the leadership
of SLA," said Jim Colantino, Senior Vice President
of Business Operations, Dialog. "Her knowledge,
experience and enthusiasm for the information industry
will be valuable in helping the SLA achieve its goals."
Beginning in June, Trudell will serve as Chapter
Cabinet Chair-Elect in 2006-2007 and as Chapter Cabinet
Chair in 2007-2008. In her new position, she will
act as the liaison to the SLA board on behalf of
the SLA chapters worldwide, providing support and
consultation to chapter leaders. She also will assist
in planning the leadership development programs for
SLA chapter officers.

people think about information professionals, and
I want to continue to engage, encourage and empower
others to be agents of change, as well."
Trudell has more than 30 years of experience in
the information industry, and has held many positions
within the SLA San Andreas chapter, including program
director, membership chair and president, and various
committee chairs. She is a member of the Information
Technology Division and Leadership & Management
Division and has chaired the IT Division's
Strategic Planning Committee, Virtual Section, and
Communications Section. Other recent SLA activities
include the SLA Nominating Committee, Funding Model
Task Force and the Corporate Partners Council.
Since joining Dialog in 1983, she has served in
numerous roles, including vice president, product
management; vice president, strategic planning; senior
director, product marketing; director of marketing
and customer services; and marketing manager.
Prior to joining Dialog, Trudell had seven years
of experience in such positions as customer support,
training, and marketing for electronic information
services, including OCLC and RLIN, and overseeing
a variety of library automation products. Her career
began at the Massachusetts Bureau of Library Extension,
administering funding for federal library grants.
Trudell holds a Masters in Library Science from
Simmons and a BA from Tufts University.
