Dialog Offers Over 400,000 Fulltext Government Research Reports from National Technical Information Service
Cary,
NC (June 20, 2006)
Dialog, a Thomson business, announced today that a
collection of more than 400,000 government-sponsored
research reports distributed by the National Technical
Information Service (NTIS) is now available through
the Dialog online service. The reports cover a broad
spectrum of subject categories, including aerospace,
energy, the environment, health and safety, and many
others.
Dialog has enhanced the functionality of its online
search service to allow searchers accessing the NTIS
Database (File 6 on Dialog) to identify and purchase
fulltext technical reports directly from their search
result via electronic download. Reports will be delivered
to searchers as PDF images. The NTIS Database on
Dialog contains more than 2 million records, providing
summaries of government reports.
"Dialog customers now have a convenient way
to access the fulltext of valuable research reports
from NTIS, providing insight into government-funded
research," said Viji Krishnan, Dialog vice
president of publisher management. "And, many
of the NTIS reports that are now available through
Dialog are difficult to find through any other source."
NTIS, an agency of the U.S. Department of Commerce's
Technology Administration, is the federal government's
central repository and primary disseminator of scientific,
technical, engineering, and related business information
sponsored by the U.S. government and selected worldwide
sources. It includes research provided from more
than 240 U.S. government agencies, such as, NASA,
the Department of Defense, and the Department of
