
Dialog Widens Asia-Pacific Intellectual Property Coverage With Addition of Australian Database

Dialog, a Thomson
business, today announced that it has added the
TRADEMARKSCAN®–Australia database to the Dialog
platform, further expanding its intellectual property
portfolio and providing greater coverage for the
Asia-Pacific region. Dialog also offers trademark
coverage for Japan and South Korea, having added
the TRADEMARKSCAN®–South Korea database in
June 2006.
“Businesses must keep an eye on intellectual
property activity in every part of the world to remain
competitive in today’s market, particularly
in the three largest economic regions — Asia-Pacific,

TRADEMARKSCAN–Australia (File 656 on Dialog), produced
by Thomson CompuMark, contains more than 482,000
unpublished applications and published registrations
filed with IP Australia from 1906 to the present.
In addition the file includes:
- Images for approximately 40 percent of the trademarks
- 3-D, sound and smell trademarks
- Disclaimers — disclaims part of the mark
which cannot be protected
- Oppositions — typically a different company
opposing a mark for non-use
With the addition of TRADEMARKSCAN–Australia, Dialog
now has 29 trademark files, representing records
from 28 countries and the 50 U.S. states, as well
as, marks registered through the Madrid Protocol
and the Madrid Agreement (International Register)
and Community Trademark system. The combined total
number of trademark records on Dialog surpasses 17
million.
Dialog offers access to an extensive collection

patents, copyrights, prior art databases and domain
